Diplo Mashes Up M.I.A. and Rihanna
Yesterday, Diplo took to his Twitter to point out the obvious similarities between Rihanna's new "Rude Boy" video and M.I.A.'s "Boyz" video. But the similarities don't end with the videos, which Diplo made all the more obvious when he posted something else on his Twitter: A blend of "Rude Boy" and "Boyz". They fit pretty naturally together! Click above to stream or download it.

Sleigh Bells Working With M.I.A
Last night, Diplo posted the following message on his Twitter: "All day finishin up these @_m_i_a tracks... Its official.. This team is from the FUTURE!! - diplo rusko switch mia blaqstarr sleighbellz FTW"

And while we already knew most of those producers were getting in on M.I.A.'s forthcoming LP, the addition of Brooklyn noise-pop act Sleigh Bells is new. And it's official, according to Sleigh Bells' manager, who told The Village Voice that Sleigh Bells songwriter "Derek [Miller] did production work on the album." The duo's publicist confirmed it as well.

It seems like just yesterday we were watching M.I.A. watch Sleigh Bells perform at Brooklyn DIY haven Market Hotel during CMJ. How far they've come. If you want to see what all the Sleigh Bells fuss is about, try to check them out when they open for Yeasayer and Major Lazer in the coming months.

M.I.A.'s album is due out this summer.

Complex's 25 Most Anticipated Albums of 2010
#4: M.I.A. TBD
RELEASE DATE? Summer 2010
PRODUCERS/COLLABORATORS: Blaqstarr, Rusko
WHAT WE KNOW:
M.I.A.’s whole world has changed since her anti-crossover album Kala crossed over, thanks to the Grammy-nominated, boundry-smashing anthem “Paper Planes.” She’s had a baby and hunkered down with Baltimore producer Blaqstarr for most of her third album (which is rumored to be titled Mission.Impossible.Area), which will include the recently-leaked track “Space Odyssey” and a song called “I’m Down Like Your Internet Connection” that reportedly features an actual Verizon customer service employee on the hook. “Paper Planes” might have been a pop radio fluke, but you can bet whatever she does will be one of the year’s most original albums.

That New MIA Track is Actually a Protest Song Called “Space Odyssey”
In between pwning the internets by posting that MIA track yesterday (above) like one second after she Twitted it, we were on our investigative grind. We emailed MIA’s publicist, who got us the scoop: It’s a protest song against the New York Times, which printed a questionable bit on how Sri Lanka is now the best place to travel in 2010. Peep MIA’s Twitter for the full back story. “Space Odyssey” should be on her forthcoming album, which is set to drop this summer (potentially June). Get pumped.
According to MIA’s publicist:
It is called ‘Space Odyssey” produced by Rusko and M.I.A. The song and video were made Monday night for $100, after the New York Times, as she says: “fucked up so hard.”
Check her tweets – she obviously finds it reckless and ignorant of the paper to not even scratch their own walls on what is reality in Sri Lanka.

Help Haiti
International humanitarian agencies, emergency response teams and government authorities pleaded frantically early Wednesday for an unprecedented outpouring of support for Haiti, which was rocked the night before by a 7.0-magnitude earthquake and more than two dozen powerful aftershocks.

Please text 'Yele' to 501501 to donate $5 to YELE HAITI."

Individuals wanting to donate to UNICEF’s efforts can do so at UNICEF or by calling 1-800-4UNICEF.

The U.S. State Department Operations Center set up the following number for Americans seeking information about relatives in Haiti: (888) 407-4747.

The State Department said those interested in helping immediately may text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be made automatically to the Red Cross for relief efforts. The donation will be charged to your cell phone bill.

MIA to return with 'no gimmicks' on new album
Maya Arulpragasam tells NME.COM she is preparing for early spring release for third album

MIA says she expects her third album to be released as early as this early spring, she has told NME.COM.

The singer, real name Maya Arulpragasam, explained that has now finished recording the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2008's 'Kala', describing it as "really odd" and "more musical" than her previous efforts.

"I wanted it to be like, no gimmicks," she declared. "It’s my third album and I have to kind of confront whether I am a musician or not… I wanted to make something that you could play that isn’t like trendy just for three months, or the length of a DJ’s attention span."

MIA added that she worked on the album with DJ Blaqstarr, as well as longtime collaborators Diplo and Switch.

To read the full interview with MIA, make sure you pick up a copy of NME's Albums Of 2010 issue, which hits newsstands across the UK on Wednesday (January 13).
